The purpose of this guide is to provide community members, institutions, and advocates with language and analysis to challenge terrorism designations used by state and aligned media to target us.
Our hope is that this guide will help facilitate public discourse while recognizing the complexity of political violence, without resorting to simplistic terrorism frameworks that enable repression.
Finally, this guide has been designed for the community to “change the terms” with which we engage in terrorism discourse so that we can challenge—instead of reinforcing—the structural oppression that enables it.
